You are the strongest, unstoppable, but your energy is limited.
- Invest calories wisely. They must pay off.
- Hunt patiently. Wait for an overwhelming advantage. As long as that takes.
- When your prey is disadvantaged, feed immediately.
I've been obsessed with crocodilian sanctuary videos. There is something admirable in their decisive intelligence.
Profound as adventure game protagonists (what is so-called "player skill", but an imitation of the croc gameplan?) and also as antagonists.
If you have blundered into an attack, the croc will punish swiftly and catastrophically. Even if you could bring a weapon to bear (any weapon), no injury or pain you dish out will cause a croc to release its prey.
Yet, it can be deterred with a simple wooden pole. With an accurate understanding of their behavior and speed, the player can even maneuver around a croc with incredible freedom.
When you next need a hazard that is intense, fair, but oh-so-harsh, consider the venerable crocodilian.
